Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has authorized the sale of the former Leighton Gallery property.
The hospital purchased the property in 2012, as well as one other that also borders the BHMH campus along Parker Point Road, as part of the development of a larger master facility plan. “Today we know that our future campus needs can be met without repurposing the Leighton building. While we plan to retain some of the land behind the building for much needed parking, we have decided to sell the building, together with space for a comfortable backyard,” explains BHMH president and CEO Greg Roraff, FACHE. The hospital currently plans to retain ownership of the other properties it owns on Parker Point Road.
In reaching the decision to sell, the Board of Trustees solicited feedback from the community and formed an ad hoc Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC). Sally Mills, Trustee and Chair of NAC, explained that the Board recognizes the community’s desire to retain the “residential feel” of Parker Point Road. “We think this plan will meet the hospital’s strategic needs, while honoring the character of Blue Hill Village.”
Among the hospital’s next steps is informing the community about BHMH’s plans for the future. Roraff comments, “We’re excited that the master facility plan is nearly finished and we look forward to sharing with our community the critical priorities identified for the future of the organization.”
