Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Appoints Christopher Young to Board of Trustees



Blue Hill Memorial Hospital (BHMH) is pleased to announce that Christopher Young joined the Board of Trustees on August 13, 2012. Mr. Young moved to Blue Hill as a child, graduated from George Stevens Academy, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Maine at Orono. In addition, he completed the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing & Management, the Risk Management Association School of Business Lending & Financial Analysis, and the Northern New England School of Banking.

As Regional Vice President for Bar Harbor Bank & Trust he oversees operations in their Ellsworth, Milbridge, and Winter Harbor branches. Currently serving as a member of the WHCA/Downeast Business Alliance Loan Committee and as a member and Treasurer of Ira Berry Lodge, Mr. Young is strongly committed to community service. He is a past Board President of both the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Maine. He served as a member of the Penquis CAP Incubator Without Walls Committee, on the Board of Directors for the Grand Auditorium, and as a member of the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Capital Campaign where he also served as co-chair of the Business Gifts Committee. “We are so pleased to welcome Chris Young to the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees” says Greg Roraff, president and CEO, BHMH. “Chris is a local professional who is highly motivated to work with our hospital as we strive to meet the healthcare needs of the community with the highest quality care. He is well connected to Blue Hill and our surrounding towns and is already keenly aware of both challenges and opportunities that face BHMH as we navigate changes in healthcare and prepare for the future.”

The advancement committee is also looking forward to Mr. Young’s participation. “Chris will certainly bring a wealth of experience to our advancement committee” explains Kelley Columber, interim director of advancement. “His presence on the committee will bring fresh ideas and energy with respect to our development efforts here at the hospital.”

Mr. Young’s family and personal history with Blue Hill Memorial Hospital is generational. His uncle, Dr. Bradley Brownlow, and his mother, Jane Young-Allen, CRNA both had distinguished careers at BHMH, and his daughter, Emily was born at the Hospital in 2008. Mr. Young lives in Blue Hill with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children – Emily, Spencer, and Wyatt.
