About Our Diagnostic Imaging Services

Amy HoughtonBlue Hill Memorial Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging department pairs highly-skilled, caring, certified staff with state-of-the-art technology, close to home. Our professionals are dedicated to delivering outstanding and convenient care.  As part of a community hospital, we are able to provide care with a personal touch and devote time to our patients’ needs.

A board certified radiologist carefully interprets our patients’ images. Spectrum Medical Group radiologists interpret most of our images at our hospital in Blue Hill. Your ordering provider should receive a report of your results within two business days. In the case of emergencies such as a car accident, heart attack, or stroke, images will be interpreted immediately.

Digital Technology: High Quality, Safe, Easily Accessible

Our up-to-date equipment allows us to acquire images with greater detail and definition in a short period of time.   This assists with accurate diagnoses.  We make sure that our exams involving radiation use the lowest does possible.

We utilize a digital archive system that stores images electronically so that they can be seen by providers affiliated with BHMH, Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC), and several other facilities throughout Maine.  Seasonal residents and visitors can get their images transferred to a CD, improving the continuation of care with their out-of-state provider.  Our staff is accustomed to working with other hospitals and we can help make transitions as seamless as possible.

Pre-Registration

Patients must pre-register for imaging exams unless they are being treated in our Emergency Department.  Patients can pre-register online or call 1-877-619-9008.

Billing and Payment

Patients will typically receive two bills.  One will be from Spectrum Radiology and the other will be from Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.  Information about our hospital’s billing procedures and policies are available online.  There are several programs that can help patients pay for specific services such as mammograms, or for diagnostic imaging services in general in the case of financial hardship.  Please consult our Diagnostic Imaging Department if you have questions.
