Suzanne and Aoife see patients at Island Family Medicine and Bucksport Family Medicine one day a week. Like Dr. Ober, they deliver babies in Ellsworth.

What are the benefits of receiving my prenatal care in Blue Hill?
Our prenatal care providers are women and many women prefer to receive prenatal and gynecologic care from other women.
Our patients will typically see the same provider for most visits. This allows expectant mothers to establish a strong bond with the women who will be delivering their baby. This continuum of care is valued both by first time mothers and women with children who are looking for a relationship with a provider who can meet both their needs during pregnancy and their gynecologic care into the future.
We offer a full menu of healthcare services that women typically require during their pregnancies, including ultrasonography and laboratory services. Local access to these services is more cost effective and convenient than traveling to distant hospitals for routine tests.
While Dr. Ober is experienced in high risk pregnancies, she and Dr. Walden are also able to make referrals as needed to specialists throughout Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems and beyond.
Our prenatal care providers have extensive experience in caring for women at every phase of life. Our patients can develop a long-term relationship with a female provider before, during, and long after their pregnancies. Research suggests that such continuity of care leads to improved health outcomes.
Our providers can work closely with patients to help them meet the healthcare needs of their entire family through the many services offered at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and its Peninsula Primary Care practices.
Where will I deliver my baby?
While Blue Hill Memorial Hospital does not offer labor and delivery services, our prenatal care providers have priviledges at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and will deliver your baby there. Suzanne Norgang delivers at MDI Hospital in Bar Harbor on a limited basis. What if I have an emergency?
Our relationship with Eastern Maine Medical Center, our region’s largest and most comprehensive hospital, means that we are especially well-prepared to transition you to specialists should you have urgent needs during any phase of your pregnancy. Our Lifeflight service can typically transport patients from Blue Hill to Bangor in less than 15minutes; Lifeflight also serves the greater peninsula area, including Stonington.
All hospitals, including Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, are prepared to deliver babies in their emergency departments although such deliveries are rare.
