Serving Our Patients in the Office

Blue Hill Orthopedics is dedicated to providing outstanding general orthopedic services to the communities we serve. Our experienced staff will work closely with your primary care provider to schedule appointments and coordinate care for your specific orthopedic needs. We will also be happy to consult with you directly as a self-referral patient.

Related Outpatient Services

Blue Hill Memorial Hospital offers many diagnostic imaging services, some of which are adjacent to our offices in the Sussman Medical Office Building.

Serving Our Patients in the Hospital

Preparing for Surgery: We offer pre-operation care for joint replacement patients, which includes pre-operation laboratory tests, EKGs, and chest x-rays, if needed. The patient also has the opportunity to confer with a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) about their anesthesia needs and review their pre-operation instructions.

Rehabilitation after Surgery

  • Care Management: Our Social Services department will review your postoperative expectations and help you plan for participation in the Skilled Nursing program, if it is appropriate.
  • Skilled Nursing: Our patients may take advantage of our full range of Skilled Nursing services. Skilled Nursing is part of the inpatient unit of the hospital. Therapies include rehabilitation after a hip or knee replacement surgery, IV medication therapy, and/or strength training after a prolonged hospitalization. This program is complimented by an activities program in leisure and skill building activities.  Our patients who require hospitalization typically stay in a private room.  We are pleased to offer our patients highly skilled nurses and rehabilitation therapists who are specially trained to help you recover from your surgery as quickly as possible, with minimal discomfort.
  • Occupational Therapy: We provide education and training to restore your independence in daily living after surgery. Therapists will assess the need for assistive devices; provide training, and offer evaluations and treatments for a variety of diagnoses, including upper extremity injuries and surgical repairs.
  • Physical Therapy: We work with patients to improve endurance and resume life activities such as walking, exercising, improving balance, strength, and flexibility after surgery. Therapists also educate you and your family on safety and mobility.
