S. Ramanadha Rao, MD, urologist, recently joined Blue Hill Memorial Hospital's Specialty Services as a member of the hospital's active courtesy staff.
Since 2002, Dr. Rao's specialty has been the treatment of the enlarged prostate, or BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. He firmly believes in a minimally invasive approach to urological treatment—using both in-office and outpatient procedures—and is known for his expertise in the field of urology.
Dr. Rao will also provide the Blue Hill region with less invasive, leading edge prostate cancer surgery—da Vinci Prostatectomy— through Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC). Dr.Rao is one of only two urologists trained to perform this state-of-the-art robotic technology procedure at EMMC.
"I think I am the best at what I do, and my practice is very busy—and expanding," Dr. Rao asserts with a soft smile. "I find Blue Hill Memorial Hospital very receptive to me, and to the remarkable procedures I can offer. Together, we want the Blue Hill community to have access to the best possible care in urology."
On April 29, 2008, Dr. Rao began seeing patients every other Tuesday at the Specialty Services office located on the first floor of the Sussman Medical Office Building at 65 Water Street in Blue Hill.
