BLUE HILL – Cindy Beske, MSN, CNM, is the new Nurse Midwife at Blue Hill Women’s Health Care, joining Jeff Held, MD, Robert Walker, MD, and Henrietta Clews, CNM. Ms. Beske, a Certified Nurse Midwife with a Masters of Science in Nursing, will begin seeing patients October 22, 2007 at the clinic’s 65 Water Street location in Blue Hill.
Genice Billings, RNC, Manager of Obstetrics and Women's Health Care, states: “We are very pleased to have Cindy be part of Blue Hill Women’s Health Care. With her diverse experience and skill, she will provide quality women’s health care throughout our patients’ life spans.”
Ms. Beske received her Diploma in nursing in1979 at Arnot Ogden School of Nursing in Elmira, NY. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing in 1993 from Decker School of Nursing, State University of New York at Binghamton, Binghamton, NY, followed by a Certificate of Midwifery in 1995 from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in Hyden, Kentucky. In 1998, she received a Masters of Science in Nursing from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.
From the start, Ms. Beske has focused her medical career on women’s health. After 18 years of RN experience in maternal/child health and OB/GYN associate practices, she co-founded BirthN’Beyond, a full-scope midwifery practice in Elmira, NY. In addition, she was a childbirth educator for ten years, taught basic and advanced fetal monitoring for a multi-county area as part of New York State’s Joint Education and Training, and served on the clinical faculty of Elmira College (NY), Binghamton University (NY) and the University of Maine, Orono.
Ms. Beske and her husband, Jim, moved to Maine after an unforgettable vacation here in 2004 – “we loved it!” Since then, Cindy has worked with midwifery practices in both Ellsworth (About Women) and Presque Isle (Horizons OB/GYN).
“I’m excited about working with Dr. Held, Dr. Walker, and Henrietta Clews to maintain the wonderful quality of care they have always provided,” Ms. Beske says. She believes, as they do, that midwifery includes a lot more than taking care of pregnant women. “I’m looking forward to seeing women of all ages at Blue Hill Women’s Health Care,” she says. “My approach to women’s health is about empowering women to work intuitively with their own bodies and help them understand their role in making healthy life choices – whether about childbirth, nutrition, body image or hormone balance.”
