Stacey Walden, DO recently joined the physician team at BHFM and it was her wish come true. "Practicing with other experienced physicians at a small hospital like BHMH was important to me," she says, "and to do so in a community where Osteopathic Medicine is accepted, if not embraced" was a must. What made the difference here? "I immediately felt comfortable with the physicians; I felt like I could fit, and do well."
It's not the first time Stacey's been to Blue Hill. She remembers coming here when she was six years old. "My sisters and I were part of 4-H, and we brought our goats to the Blue Hill Fair."
She thinks Blue Hill is a beautiful location and an interesting community. It's a place where "I can stay connected to my family. It is one of the things I feel very strongly about."
As far as healthcare today, Stacey feels "Primary care, especially Family Medicine, is very under-reimbursed and under appreciated in our present healthcare system. It is undervalued." She loves the broad reach of care that comes with family medicine. "I can see someone who is 92 in one visit, and then in the next visit see a premature baby that was born last week. It's amazing. I see my job as one who encourages, rather than creates 'that something in us that wants to find health.'"
