Healthy Peninsula Project, in collaboration with School Union 76, is pleased to announce that mini-grants are available to carry out community or school-based projects that provide alternative activities for youth. Grants are available from $100 to $500 and must be appropriated by June 30th, 2005.
Healthy Peninsula Project (HPP) will host two informational meetings regarding the Healthy Choices, Healthy KIDS! 2005 Mini-Grants on Thursday January 6, 2005 at 4:00pm at Blue Hill Public Library in the Howard Room and Monday, January 10, 2005 at 4:00pm at the HPP office 11 Tenney Hill, Blue Hill.
HPP is a community school partnership, funded by the Fund for Healthy Maine to help promote healthy lifestyles and healthy communities. HPP serves the Blue Hill Peninsula and in partnership with the Healthy Island Project, Deer Isle, Stonington, and Isle au Haut communities.
Completed applications must be received by HPP no later than January 18th, 2005. Funding decisions will be made by a subcommittee of representatives of HPP and School Union 76, which reserves the right to make grants of more than $500 for exceptional proposals. Requirements All proposals must meet the following requirements:
- Lasting community changes that support health. Some examples of lasting changes could include; enacting a nutrition policy for an organization; development of new resources for area youth, creation of walking trail or other infrastructure to promote healthy living.
- Increases physical activity or recreation opportunities for youth in your area.
- Youth must be involved in planning and carrying out the project.
- Projects must be located in one or more of the following towns: Blue Hill, Penobscot, Sedgwick, Brooklin, Brooksville, Surry, Castine, Deer Isle, Stonington and Isle au Haut.
- All grantees must agree to complete a memorandum of understanding and partnership agreement with HPP, and to submit a brief report on your project after it is completed.
- One-time programs/events not leading to significant lasting change will not be funded.
