Elizabeth Byard is the new Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) at Bucksport Family Medicine, joining Kristin McDermott, DO, Karen Calcott, MD, and Karl Liebermann, DO. Ms. Byard is seeing patients Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 8am – 4:30pm at the clinic’s 58 Main Street location in Bucksport. She will also see patients at Penobscot Nursing Home.
Deb Turner, VP of Physician Practices at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, is pleased she is joining this active group of family practitioners. “We are excited to have Ms. Byard in Bucksport. She will provide the support we need to serve the community of Bucksport with quality healthcare.”
Ms. Byard earned a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in 1988, and a Master of Science degree in nursing/ FNP from Husson College in 1999. Her clinical experience includes work at Maine Family Planning and Planned Parenthood Centers, Central Maine Family Practice, and Maine Rehabilitation Center. Most recently, she has been Director of the Maternal and Child Health Program of Downeast Health Services, Ellsworth, ME, and their Team Leader of the Early Childhood Team (Women, Infants and Children; Parents are Teachers, Too; and Maternal and Child Health). Ms. Byard continues to provide family planning services in Calais, ME, for Downeast Health Services.
“I am glad to bring 20 years experience as a women’s health nurse practitioner and eight years experience as a family nurse practitioner to Bucksport Family Medicine,” she says. “I specialize in women’s healthcare and enjoy working with all patients to help them achieve their goals toward healthier living.”
