Blue Hill Memorial Hospital has hired a new physician, Dr. Jeffrey Held, to join its Women's Health Center. Dr. Held is a board-eligible physician with over 12 years experience in gynecologic surgery and obstetrics. He began seeing patients September 5, 2006 at the Sussman Medical Office Building in Blue Hill and the Bucksport Family Medicine office on Main St. in Bucksport.

Genice Billings, Nurse Manager of Obstetrics at BHMH, stated: "I am excited that Dr. Held is here at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He has experience working with midwives and supports our practice of family-centered birthing. He has the skills to provide specialized care as well. We are happy to have him join Dr. Walker and Henrietta Clews."

Dr. Held received his medical doctorate degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Fairborn, Ohio and did his OB/GYN residency at Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. He moved to Maine from Ukiah, California where he has had a general obstetrics and gynecology practice.

 "I looked at Maine as a place to live and practice back in the early 90s and am so happy to finally be here! I look forward to a long and fulfilling career in Blue Hill," Dr. Held relates. "I feel I have a lot to offer patients here, by merging some of the best practices in terms of holistic and low interventional care I learned from Northern California with national standards of good medicine. I am excited to work with Henrietta and Dr. Walker to maintain the wonderful quality of care they have always provided."
